  • Nodules how long do they last.

Nodules or Cysts how long do they really last and what can be done to treat them fast and effectively? There are many similar questions floating around among people who are going though different stages of acne. To fully understand the problem and in order to choose the best treatment for nodules or cysts, one must know that first of all, the nodule is an infection, with rapidly multiplying bacterias.

But, instead of painting the situation in dark colors and describing in little details, how nodule develops, what causes the nodule or cyst and so on, i will write about the most effective ways to treat a nodule to help you out finding the best treatment. As i stated above, the nodules and cysts are infections and considered as severe acne.

Fist and the most important step in treating cysts and nodules is isolating the infection from growing. In other words, the infection needs to be stopped before using any other acne medications. One of the most used and recommended by doctors in this case is a steroid injection. It is a small shots of steroids (different once can be used) around the inflamed area.

There are as in any steroid therapy positive and negative sides of such treatment. The positive one is that the steroid injection in most cases helps to stop the infection and decrease the inflammation. The negative side is the side effects from use of steroids, in particular on the face area. It is important to know that as harmless as the steroid injections are described by the doctors (in most cases, they don't describe any thing!) the steroids are harsh drugs with severe and sometimes irreversible side effects. Before considering the steroid injections as a therapy for nodules, try to use other acne treatments with less or no side effects.

You will probably tell me, that you have tried everything and this is why the acne got to that stage, where nothing else helps. You see, the problem with most topical acne medications - they don't penetrate deep enough into your skin. How many times, after applying the acne cream, it was still on your skin, even though an hour went by? My point is, try to use everything possible in order to avoid the use of steroids and antibiotics. Try to use acne creams with most ingredients possible, which have not only drugs and steroids in its ingredients but instead - vitamins, minerals, natural oils and so on. Only natural acne treatments can be used without any side effects and with high healing efficacy.

Acne cysts - why most acne medications fail.

Cysts and other severe and inflammatory acne such as nodules, papules and pustules are the most difficult to treat. There are many controversial opinions however, on how to treat the inflammatory and severe acne. Which acne treatment is better and more effective and which should be avoided because of the side effects.

Indeed, there are so many anti-acne products available, that one with acne has a hard time to choose the best acne product - one, that will help to get rid of acne, the severe acne in particular. Have you ever thought: Why, some anti-acne products are more effective than the others?. I am sure you have.

You see, there are three types of topical acne products available: The chemical acne products (with antibiotics and hormones), The natural acne products (with sulfur, vitamins and minerals) and the home made acne remedies. All three can work wonders on acne with some exceptions, and we are not talking about the side effects, usually associated with use of harsh chemicals. Every body knows that.

Most of the time, treating the severe acne cases, doctors prescribe the steroid injections because most of the topical prescription and over-the-counter acne medications fail to stop the inflammation. But, no matter what some people say, the use of harsh steroids in acne treatment or any other illness must be avoided as much as possible. You probably wondering, what else can be done to stop the inflammation, if anything else fails.

Most topical acne creams or medications fails to do the job right for one reason: they don't penetrate deep enough into the skin. Have you ever used a cosmetic or anti-acne cream, applied it and after, lets say - half hour or so, it was still on your skin as a greasy mask? I have! I am sure you have too. Such creams or medications will not serve their purpose. Instead, they will clog the skin pores, which will multiply the acne bacteria and make the treatment more complicated.

Therefore, while treating severe or mild acne, it is important to use a anti-acne cream with deep penetrating effect, which will deliver the anti-acne ingredients to where they supposed to be - deep in the skin pore, where the infection is and not on it. Unfortunately, or may be fortunately, most chemical acne medications fail to help with acne for this reason and for this reason only. Please, choose your acne treatment wisely, always check the list of the ingredients in possible acne products, compare chemicals with natural and then make your decision.

Benzoyl peroxide and Acne the history.

Most of us, who writes articles an acne treatments and acne prevention, tend to forget about the history. Not too many people know for instance, when the Benzoyl peroxide was first discovered and used as treatment against acne. I am going to try to fill this gap by writing short articles like this one about different acne products.

Some of you probably know, that Benzoyl peroxide was first discovered and used as treatment for acne in 1920's by Revlon laboratories. It was used in form of cream as topical acne treatment and made by mixing it with other chemical ingredients in order to preserve and transport the benzoyl peroxide deep into the skin. Since that time, there were many researches on effectiveness of benzoyl peroxide. Primarily on the percentage used for acne products.

Through out the years by trying and diluting benzoyl peroxide in different ointments, the researches finally defined that 2.5% to 10%concentration of benzoyl peroxide can be used in topical acne products. Ever since, the benzoyl peroxide became number one anti-acne ingredient in many different acne creams and acne lotions. Many cosmetic companies and drug manufacturers are using benzoyl peroxide (BP) in their anti-acne formulations.

Pure benzoyl peroxide is extremely toxic and must be used with caution. It can explode and burn, therefore people who handles pure benzoyl peroxide must follow specials precautions and treat it as extremely danger and flammable product. The draw backs from using the benzoyl peroxide as acne treatment are its negative side effects. Even though the (BP) had been used as acne treatment for years, there are many mild and severe side effects reported.

I think, that before even considering using any anti-acne product with benzoyl peroxide, one must ask this question: Even though, Benzoyl peroxide was used as acne treatment for as long as beginning of last century and there are so many drug and cosmetic companies using BP in its ingredients, Did it help people to cure acne? The answer is no, it didn't.

Therefore, before putting you and your skin through burns, rashes and other unpleasant side effects, think natural, be safe and use acne products without side effects. Natural acne products that is.
