    Acne Free with AHA
I had moderate, stubborn acne on my face, neck and upper back for about 12 years now. It was about three year's ago when I finaly found something that cleared my skin from acne. The sad part is that I've stopped using it after a while I'll explain why later.
The product i am talking about is alpha hydroxy lotion (lotion -- not the face wash mentioned here among the posts of this blog). I used a product that was 10% AHA once a day and i used it at night only. In the morning, I washed my face with a gentle - natural cleanser.
This stuff did give me almost immediate results and worked very quickly. For me, my acne would get a little worse during the first few days of use. After that stage, dramatic clearing would begin. I'd be completely clear at about 3 - 4 weeks.
I knew and i am sure you all know that AHA is a hard-core exfoliant. While most exfoliants work by scrubbing away dead skin, AHA works by dissolving the bond that holds the dead skin to your face. I don't know why this clears acne, but one theory I've read claims the acid dissolves sebum, i don't know how true it is though.
If use constantly the AHA it will strip away the protective barrier of dead skin. Therefore, any exposure to the sun can lead to problems. If you decide to try AHA, you should wear sunscreen and not just A sunscreen but try to fing good sunscreen with natural ingredients in it, and also should consider wearing a hat with a wide brim. That's why I've stopped using it.
Also, you'll probably notice a slight burning sensation the first few times you apply the lotion, i know i did so you probably will too. For me, this was minor, would last only a few minutes after application, and went away completely after about three days of use. And one last thing or warning if you will:
if you decide to use AHA, don't combine it with any other product, i think it will burn your face if you do.

Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion is bad product to use eventhough i have tried it. I was using the 10% glycolic formula twice a day and my skin was crystal clear for a while, but foolishly, I broke my regimen and now, two weeks later, I have breakouts. I started using the lotion again a few days ago. You are right, there is a slight breakout in the beginning, and it burn as well but after that, my skin started to glow. I was happy at the beginning but then it stop working at all. I also use DDF's 10% glycolic toner at night.
Does anyone know that the AHA lotion that was here recommend is available with SPF15 in it? It is on Drugstore.com or Walgreens.com, I am not sure wich one. I know this because of all the alternative regimens mentioned in this blog, the ones that mention AHA Gylcolic Acid lotion (or toner) really get my attention. So when I read this I looked up the products you recommend at various web-retail sites.
can it be used with BP?
and also how oftrn can it be applied both day and night?
bad idea mixin AHA and BP togezer, it like a dinamite.Don't do that! Because of AHA's effect on the skin, BP will probably become extra-irritating becasu BP is just another laundry detergent and nothing more.
I only applied the lotion once a day.
This Alpha Hydroxy that you're using, do you use it primarily to prevent acne or for fading the nasty red marks after acne?
I'm sort of afraid to try anything right now especialy products that are said to cause breakouts initially. I mean, it's scary to have more zits than usual.
I've been on BP and on AHA products in different time in lofe.I haven't really seen any improvements from both of those products, nothing but burns and new brakeouts. I've been on BP before but then I'd stop, the Proactive and others whou has BP suck i tell you same with AHA...it burn as hell and then if you go outside an Sun hits your skin...men...it is very painful. So i had bad time with both BP and AHA. I've been getting cystic acne from using BP. I know that the zits I got are from BP because I only put BP in certain areas of my face. The ones that have cystic acne growing are the parts that I apply BP to. I've stopped using my SA facial wash a few weeks ago IT IS ALSO BAD. I now use a gentle cleanser, from these guys at Ovante...it cleanses and no irritation..thats what i like.
I wonder though. Which Alpha Hydrox product works? There are so many. There's this oil based lotion and this foaming facial wash. Then there's this enhanced lotion that I've heard so much about. Are the Alpha Hydrox Products really good?
So the reason why aha works is because it is a exfoliator is that rite? i mean it rids you of your dead skin cells but it dosen't kill the acne bacteria so wouldn't u still continue to have acne ??
Are there any side effects of using aha ?
Alpha Hydroxy Acids Products works by pilling off the outer layers of the skin, leaving new skin, plump with moisture, extremely sensitive, and vulnerable on the the surface. Initially, this makes skin look smooth and young. This is why, when first use, people notice positive results almost immediately. However, alpha hydroxy acids dissolve the intercellular "glue" that holds the surface skin cells together, so they are a repeated irritation and an insult to delicate skin.
New research at the University of Pennsylvania shows that prolonged use of alpha hydroxy acids worsens the signs of aging over time! In fact, the study showed that when application of the alpha hydroxy acid stopped, wrinkles actually appeared deeper in skin that was irritated during the treatment than before applying the alpha hydroxy acid! Why? The skin becomes inflamed with the harsh acidic treatment. The natural inflammation response triggered enzymes in the skin to begin devouring the collagen proteins that normally provide the underlying structure to skin cells.
We, at Ovante cosmetics for natural ingredients only so, think again before starting to use new product to treat your acne, if you don't want chemicals on your skin then don't apply them.
